The Great Alexander Wang
May 21st 2008 07:33
For my first post, I thought who better to write about than my current favourite designer. Alexander Wang. Heard of him? Well he's a 23 year-old designer from New York and this is one man that knows a woman very well. I havn't found this out by looking at his dating record or even speaking to him in person. I found this out by looking at the clothes designs. They're imperfect. They look effortlessly chic and isn't that the look we're all trying to pull off?
In his Autumn/Winter 2008 collection he had his models walking down the catwalk with rips in their stockings and shirts half untucked. You couldn't get more effortless than that!
Alexander Wang produced an inspiring collection. He loves the look of a woman wearing her boyfriend's shirt and don't we all. " I'm naturally drawn to the aesthetic of a girl in her boyfriend's clothing."
With his amazing, chic new take on the industry I believe there is a lot to be learnt from Alexander and a lot of greatness to come. To pull off what I now like to call an Alexander steal your boyfriends shirt, pull on a vest, grap a pair of jeans (preferably with holes in them) and go out with confidence. Eccentuate your "beautiful flaws".
Recently Alexander has been featured in Russh magazine with a Q&A spread and has been posted on style.com.
This rebel in the fashion industry will next be challenging himself with an evening wear line. But not the red - carpet sort; the Alexander sort. This evening wear isn't out to make a woman looking perfect, it will make a woman look chic.
